As
we left the Drake Passage (top left red arrow below) we entered the
South Shetland Islands at Deception Island. Over the next several days
we cruised to islands around Deception, then down the Gerlache Strait,
to more ports south of the Gerlache strait, through the Lemaire
Channel, eventually down to 66 degrees latitude, then we made our way
back. Some of the most picturesque scenery shots were taken in the
Lemaire Channel and Gerlache Strait.

All of us received a certificate certifying how far south we went

Its amazing how big this area is. We traveled quite a distance from our homes, and we are in Antarctica,
but we are still 1513 nautical miles from the South Pole.

Here is how the treaty started and some of its main provisions.
